A Little Surprise at my local Wal Mart yesterday...

Our local WM has now started carrying Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda!!  I was so excited I wanted to clear the shelf!!  Why, you ask??  A year or so ago, I began making my own laundry detergent.  I was never able to find this product in town before, so it became such a hassle that I had to stop.  But now, thanks to WM, I can go back to this very inexpensive way to clean my family's clothing.  Here is the recipe I use:

Ingredients: 1 bar Ivory Soap (or any other soap)
1 cup of A&H Super Washing Soda
                  1 cup of Borax
Grate bar of soap into a small boiler and add about 2 cups of water.  Simmer until melted.  Put Borax and Washing Soda into a 5 gallon bucket and add HOT water.  Mix until dissolved.  Add the soap to it and stir.  Fill to the top with hot water and mix.  Let sit for a few hours until a gel mixture is formed -OR- fill plastic laundry containers HALF full of this mixture, then add water to fill.  This recipe will make 10 gallons of laundry detergent.  Shake container or mix well before using about 1/2 - 1 cup of gel per load.

Cost is around $7.00 for about 40-50 GALLONS of detergent!  You won't find coupons better than this!!  You can also play around with your recipe until you get it just right for your family.  Plus, you can use any soap you would like to use.  Just have fun with it and save TONS of money in the process!!
