Many stores advertise BOGO (Buy One, Get One FREE) sales each week. But, these sales can be very different according to each store's policies. This is why it's important to really know your stores before you shop! For example, in our area one particular store that advertises BOGO sales weekly is actually not a "true bogo"...meaning that their cash register rings up the item at half price instead of full price, then deducting the cost of one full item. This can be a great thing if you only want one of the item, though! But, if you are a coupon user and want multiple items, there can be a big difference! Here is a common scenario:
STORE A (TRUE BOGO):
Sale item listed at $3.69 (BOGO)
1st item rings up: $3.69
2nd item rings up: $3.69
Register: <$3.69> for sale
Coupon: <$3.69> (Buy 1, Get 1 FREE coupon from Sunday's paper)
Final Cost: Both items for $0.00
STORE B (Not a TRUE BOGO):
Sale item listed at $3.69 (BOGO)
1st item rings up: $1.84
2nd item rings up: $1.84
Coupon: <$1.84> (Buy 1, Get 1 FREE coupon from Sunday's paper)
Final Cost: Both items for $1.84
While this item is still a GREAT deal....if you use your B1G1 FREE coupon at a store that has a TRUE BOGO, your item would have been FREE! Know your store's policies before you shop!!
